No, my goal is to support the client and family in the most effective and efficient manner. If that requires one session or more... it is honestly whatever is in the best interest interest of the child.

Is there an age minimum?

No! All ages can be supported by child life services. From infants to elderly... the options are endless for providing support. However, the most common age for our services to be utilized are from 3 years old to 19 years old.

What stays confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the most important components in the client/ therapist relationship[ as it provides a security of trust within the connection. Everything will stay confidential unless you have given written permission to share the info with another professional. However, if suspected past/present abuse or neglect of another human is at risk or if there is a reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person then proper authorities will be contacted.

When discussing with children... they will often provide verbal consent as to what they would like to share with their family members. I am able to assist the child in communicating their feelings and strategies but only if they have given permission to do so- otherwise it stays in confidence.
