What stays confidential?

Confidentiality is one of the most important components in the client/ therapist relationship[ as it provides a security of trust within the connection. Everything will stay confidential unless you have given written permission to share the info with another professional. However, if suspected past/present abuse or neglect of another human is at risk or if there is a reason to suspect the client is seriously in danger of harming him/herself or has threatened to harm another person then proper authorities will be contacted.

When discussing with children... they will often provide verbal consent as to what they would like to share with their family members. I am able to assist the child in communicating their feelings and strategies but only if they have given permission to do so- otherwise it stays in confidence.
